Exercising (and playing) In Paradise!

Guess what?

I worked out on vacation!  It’s true!  I not only brought workout clothes to Jamaica, I actually used them which is quite unusual for me.  Most of the time my workout gear stays crumpled up in the bottom of my suitcase for the entire trip.  This time I got it out, put it on and marched myself down to the very nice gym at the resort each morning.

It’s interesting how bodybuilding creates instant camaraderie wherever you go.  I never got anybody’s name or delved into their personal business but every morning I saw the same faces in the weight area.  By the end of the week, we were all smiling at each other and greeting one another like old friends when one of us walked through the doors of the gym.  I was always there.  There was  a woman with a curly black ponytail and a bounce in her walk, a young kid (16) who trained like crazy and a very tall man who I’m pretty sure played college volleyball.

There was also a military guy.  I’m guessing but it’s an educated guess.  I say that because he had the camouflage/IR flag tattooed on his forearm and some other tattoos I couldn’t see very well on his upper arms. I saw he and his wife on the beach one afternoon and she had the MOST beautiful tattoo.  It wrapped around her hip to her stomach and was of a swallow flying holding dog tags in it’s beak.   It was incredibly well done and I wanted to stare (admire) but made myself behave.

Proof! I did workout but on this particular day I didn't wear one of my official workout outfits. I just threw on a dress (and my trusty black hat) in the morning and went for my workout!

Oh look what I found at the gym! A little Jamaican muscle...yes...This was the man in charge of "fitness" activities at the resort so I saw him every morning!

I didn’t spend all my time at the gym.  Most of the time I was either eating or playing around on the beach!

Here I am with my favorite 10 year old. He has more than 6 months until his 11th birthday. Do you think he'll be taller than me by then?

EVERY day in humid Jamaica was a bad hair day. I didn't care one bit! It's my new style. I call it Island Hair!

  1. hey doc…i still read your posts..i just took break from some of this stuff. Still working out and working with my music..you look great.

    1. Well hello there! So happy to hear from you and I’m delighted that you’re doing what you love (exercising and working with your music). Wonderful to hear. I had a few months there when I wasn’t feeling the workout calling. I kept at it, although at a lower level of energy and now my mojo is back. It feels so good to WANT to get on the workouts each day. I’m looking forward to getting a little more muscle on my bones now that I’m back full force! Happy Wednesday!

  2. Hello Lynn, glad to see you enjoying yourself, good looking young man you have there. But considering his mother ,he’d have to be good looking.I see your beautiful as always. Thanks for the pics dear. Love ya girl! Scott

    1. Hi Scott! Thank you…my little baby is growing up so fast. Luckily he still loves his Mama and lets me hug him up! Glad you stopped by to see me. My schedule got crazy there for a second but now seems to have calmed down so that means more blogging! Have a great day!

  3. Oh my cheese smelling spider monkey, how I missed you! Thought of you often, especially since it is always raining here. The islands look great on you! Waiting for some pictures. Welcome back and though you forgot to pack me in your spare suitcase, I am so happy you had fun!

    1. You would have been sad in my suitcase on the way home. Jamaica was very humid and things didn’t dry out well. All of my bathing suits were damp when I put them in my suitcase and they were still just as wet when I unpacked them at home. I really did have a great time. I didn’t venture off the resort this time. There was just so much to do in a single location. Next time I want to do the glass bottom boat ride. I didn’t think it sounded that interesting but on the last day I ran into some people getting off the boat and they had such beautiful BIG shells. Apparently when you go out the driver will dive down and get shells for you. I got some very pretty small ones just playing in the shallow water. They’re actually still in a mini Corn Flakes box on my kitchen counter. I have to figure out what to do with them. Sending you some extra sunshine since it rains where you are often!

  4. All yor posts are so much fun to read. Glad you and the boys had a Blessed time together, enjoying Gods Blessings

    1. Thank you….I had the best time ever in Jamaica. I’m already planning a return trip. I can’t say when I’ll be able to pull it off but I’m sure going to try. I think the handsome trainer was a little extra motivation to get into the gym. Lol…he was so nice and always had a smile!

  6. Looks like you had a wonderful time! Your smile and beautiful physique brightens any day! Your pics are wonderful all of them. UROCK Lynn 🙂

    1. Hi Matt! I did have a great time. I didn’t show any photos of it but I brought home a giant bird (parrot) carving. The artist was on the beach and I just loved his work. It stands about 4′ tall. It’s in my entryway now and it reminds me of my trip every time I see it.

    1. Thank you so much! I sure had a great time on vacation. I’d always wanted to visit Jamaica and finally got my chance. It was wonderful!
