“Let the Fourth of July always be a reminder that here in this land, for the first time, it was decided that man is born with certain God-given rights; that government is only a convenience created and managed by the people, with no powers of its own except those voluntarily granted to it by the people. We sometimes forget that great truth, and we never should. Happy Fourth of July.” (Ronald Reagan)
Enjoy your day!
“Those who won our independence believed liberty to be the secret of happiness and courage to be the secret of liberty.” (Louis D. Brandeis)
Let us be courageous in the coming days. We have a country to save. In the meantime, I’m wishing you and yours a most wonderful day of celebration. God bless you and God bless America!
Sending you wishes for a safe and happy Independence Day. Yes, I know I”m day early but I couldn’t wait! As you probably guessed, this is one of my favorite holidays and I got a new bikini just to celebrate it…but now I’m wondering if it will hard to walk on the beach in these shoes…
The following quotes are some of my favorites. I think it’s good to reflect a little on the rich and abundant gifts we enjoy as Americans and to remember that it’s our responsibility to protect and nurture them so that we may pass them on to our children. Matters of freedom and liberty require our attention…and our work.
“Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it.” — Thomas Paine
“Freedom has its life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed – else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die.” — Dwight D. Eisenhower
“In the truest sense, freedom cannot be bestowed; it must be achieved.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt
“For what avail the plough or sail, or land or life, if freedom fail?” — Ralph Waldo Emerson
*It has come to my attention through a good friend who wrote to me, that there is a good veteran’s support organization that might be of interest to some of you. This seemed like just the right time to tell you about it. This is the information he sent me.
“The Veteran Tickets Foundation is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization dedicated to giving back to those who gave us so much. They team up with major sports teams, leagues, promoters, organizations, venues and everyday ticket holders to provide free and discounted tickets to more than 21 million Military and Veterans in the United States. Check out the link below.”
Let me get a jump on the crowd and take this opportunity to say…. happy Independence Day! I know it’s a little early but I’m going on vacation and will be in a place without internet access for a while. This, however, is one of my favorite days and I didn’t want to miss my chance to wish you a celebration filled with relaxation and joy.
My vacation is taking me to a place without a gym so I’ll have to improvise. My plan is to do just a little exercise while I’m away. I have a jump rope I’ll take along and I’m sure there will be some long walks in the days ahead. I’ll do push ups, crunches and planks for core and if I’m lucky I might be able to find a place to do some pull-ups. That’s it…the grand plan.
Enjoy your 4th of July festivities and though I won’t be around that day rest assured I carry the celebration in my heart every day of the year and everywhere I go.
In July, 1776, John Adams penned a letter to his wife. Referring to our first Independence Day, he wrote that it “will be the most memorable epoch in the history of America. I am apt to believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival. It ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance, by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty. It ought to be solemnized with pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations, from one end of this continent to the other, from this time forward forever more.”
Wishing you a safe and happy 4th of July!
Freedom has it’s life in the hearts, the actions, the spirit of men and so it must be daily earned and refreshed, else like a flower cut from its life-giving roots, it will wither and die. (D. Eisenhower)
Our great modern Republic. May those who seek the blessings of it’s institutions and the protection of it’s flag remember the obligations they impose. (Ulysses S. Grant)
Posterity: you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it. (John Quincy Adams)
